HANDMADE VS MACHINE-MADE BRUSHES

You may have heard before about the advantages of the handmade brush vs machine-made, but never quite understood what that truly meant.
Below we will compare a mass-produced kabuki brush with Takara's kabuki brush to illustrate the differences.

We used a well-known brand of mineral powder foundation for this comparison. The mass-produced brush is the one that is packaged with this foundation. The same sheet of white paper was used for both applications.

Machine-made lower quality brush has poor application, as seen in the first photo above. There are clearly visible streaks in the direction that the brush was swiped onto the paper. You may also notice a slightly darker area midpoint on the right line where blending was attempted.

With Takara's brush the makeup was evenly and smoothly dispersed onto the paper. Because of the even distribution, the colour of the foundation is much more subtle than with the packaged brush.
